《ELLE Magazine HK X K BEAUTY》
Dear Customers,
K Beauty was recently invited by ELLE Magazine to share our experience in semi-permanent makeup. Our teachers Joi and Janey, and semi-permanent makeup specialist Javier shared some points to pay attention to when conducting semi-permanent makeup procedures. Due to the semi-permanent nature of the procedures, customers should be wary of the following points when choosing the right procedure for themselves. If you have any friends or family members being interested in semi-permanent makeup, make sure to share this with them!
Due to the fast pace lifestyle of women living in bustling cities such as Hong Kong, it would be a great time-saver if they could finish their makeup quickly before they set off on their busy schedules. That is the reason why more and more women have chosen to try semi-permanent makeup all these years. However, is it necessary to have darker shades for microbladed or powdered brows? Is it true that eyes would look bigger with extended tattooed eyeliner? This time, we invite three judge-level brow professionals from K Beauty Medical Group to share with us what ought not to be done in semi-permanent makeup as well as some insights on skincare.
【What is Semi-Permanent Makeup?】
Semi-permanent makeup is the new trend in the beauty industry in recent years. The most common procedures include microblading/powder eyebrows, eyeliner, semi-permanent lips makeup, and hairline coloring, etc. One of the major benefits of these procedures is the flexibility it provides as it can be adjusted to fit the personal needs of the client. Although there are many beauty salons in the market that provide semi-permanent makeup, it is recommended to find a safe and certified beauty salon for the treatment. At K Beauty, EU-certified pigments and soothing cream approved by doctors are used which provide clients with the ease of mind to feel reassured.
【Taboo 1:Avoid microblading if you have thin eyebrows】
What’s the difference between powder brows and microblading?
People often are confused about the differences between powder brows and microblading and which procedure would be more suitable for them. Joi Lau is a professional judge-level semi-permanent makeup specialist who also has extensive experiences of carrying out these procedures for many celebrities, Miss Hong Kong pageants and KOLs. He suggests that the determining factor for choosing between these two procedures is the thickness of one’s eyebrows. For people with thinner eyebrows, the effect of microblading will become unnatural over time as the effect will be like drawing a 3D figure on a flat surface. Therefore, it would be at best to choose powder eyebrows as the results will be smoother and more natural.
【Over-extending eyeliners causes saggy eyes】
Semi-permanent eyeline makeup will make the eyes less energetic?
Apart from semi-permanent eyebrows, more people have also been trying eyeliner tattoos in recent years. These procedures have the desired effect of making the eyes look bigger and generally more energetic. Although people generally extend the tip of eyeliners while doing makeup, it is not often recommended to do the same with semi-permanent eyeliners. Janey Chau, a professional judge-level technician specialising in semi-permanent eyeliners pointed out that most people’s eyes are prone to sagging after one or two years due to the natural asymmetries of their eyes. Therefore, it is recommended to draw only until the last eyelash when applying semi-permanent eyeliners.
【Semi-permanent lips cannot be too light in color!】
Semi-permanent lips makeup is the riskiest of all!
Many women try on semi-permanent lips makeup to make their lips color look rosier by injecting pigment into the lips. Although these procedures are often effective, Janey recommends people to avoid using light pink pigments for semi-permanent lips. Since most people’s lips are generally reddish, lighter pigments such as pink may fade to white over time which is counterproductive. Janey would also like to remind those who are interested in these procedures to find an experienced semi-permanent makeup specialist beforehand as they have a better understanding of the various risks such as inflammation of the lips and the required post-treatment care.
【Good hairline relies on sense and technique】
A lower hairline is not always good!
Many women opt for semi-permanent hairline makeup due to their thinner hair. However, professional judge-level semi-permanent makeup specialist Javier Lau recommends that people should not draw their hairlines too low or the end result could look unnatural. Furthermore, due to the interactions between the natural oils on the human scalp and the pigments, the colors may not blend well within just a single session. Thus Javier also suggests that the treatment should be done in phases to achieve the most natural and long-lasting effect.
